Top Down Games on Android in Africa: Q2 2023 Performance

The second quarter of 2023 saw significant activity among the top-down games on the Android platform in Africa. Data from Sensor Tower reveals interesting trends in downloads, revenue, and active users for the top 5 games in this category.

Yalla Ludo - Ludo&Domino by Aviva Sun showed a strong upward trend in both downloads and revenue. Weekly downloads fluctuated but remained robust, peaking at around 160K in early May. Revenue saw a notable increase, starting at approximately $6.2K at the end of March and reaching nearly $18.5K by early June. Active users also displayed growth, peaking at over 928K in mid-April and stabilizing around 887K by the end of June.

Match Masters ‎- PvP Match 3 by Candivore experienced fluctuations in its metrics. Downloads peaked at about 48.5K in late April, while revenue saw a steady climb, reaching around $13K towards the end of May. Active users peaked at approximately 148K in late April but showed some decline thereafter, stabilizing around 103K by the end of the quarter.

Candy Crush Soda Saga from King maintained a consistent performance. Weekly downloads ranged between 29K and 76K, with peaks in late April and early June. Revenue remained relatively stable, averaging around $9K to $11K throughout the quarter. Active users showed a slight upward trend, peaking at over 1M in mid-June.

Travel Town - Merge Adventure by Magmatic Games LTD demonstrated significant growth in both downloads and active users. Downloads surged to about 30K in late May, while active users peaked at around 60K during the same period. Revenue also increased, reaching approximately $13K by the end of June.

Lastly, MONOPOLY GO! by Scopely, which was released in April 2023, showed rapid growth. Weekly downloads peaked at about 75K in early May. Revenue increased significantly, reaching nearly $20K by the end of June. Active users saw substantial growth, peaking at around 97K in late June.
